New blood needed

Picture
Respected fashion commentator Colin McDowell has weighed in on the Dior successor debate again this morning insisting that new blood, rather than a safe established name, is what the house needs for the next phase of its development.
"And so we come to the tragic case of Dior," he writes for the Business of Fashion, after offering his opinion on Raf Simons' Jil Sander departureand Hedi Slimane's YSL arrival. "And it is tragic on more levels than one: that a label needs a designer and that a man, for all his transgressions, needs a job. Fashion needs that man. To insert Bill Gaytten   an undisputedly brilliant technician, but not a designer into the gap at Dior can be nothing but a temporary solution. It's high time this gap was closed. But why not with somebody young and untested, as Yves Saint Laurent was when he took over the reins at Dior at the tender age of 21 and went on to revolutionise women's clothes? I still believe that designers with genius and courage, traits which are invariably independent of age, are more likely to thrive at a grand Paris label than at brands in any of the world's other fashion capitals at this point." McDowell made headlines last year after he revealed he had written to Dior chief executive Sidney Toledano to recommend Yves Saint Laurent lookalike Erdem Moralioglu for the vacant post. Another young London based designer, Christopher Kane, was linked with the job last month but told us exclusively that he is not in the running.

Change the world with yoga and supermodels

Miranda Kerr has agreed to give a free yoga lesson if she can convince 500 people to take up her Earth Hour challenge.
"I believe everyone has the power to change the world we live in,"

Super olsens

THE Olsen twins' new capsule  shoe  collection for Superga is almost here and will be available to buy exclusively at Harvey Nichols later this month. The stylish twins were appointed the brand's creative directors in September 2011 to mark the tennis sneaker label's 100th  birthday, announcing that they would also be designing a range under their fashion label The Row. But they may not be much to get excited over as they are only sneakers but could add sporty youth to a outfit or just wear them doing sporty things. But i see them as being more hipster rather than athletic

Is schiaparelli and galliano set for a comeback?

Picture
The latest industry rumor isn’t about a Dior appointment but rather, the house’s former designer John Galliano. Hint reports that Galliano may be heading to Schiaparelli. With the Costume Institute’s upcoming exhibit Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada: On Fashion, it would be a timely comeback for the Italian house and for the controversial but  genius man

How doset love a good monthly fashion magazine and how dosent judge a book by it cover. Here are some of the hottest front covers of april

Vogue

Jilo look super fab on the cover of the annual shape issue last year it was rhianna now its jilo who has certainly made a major comeback and is now once again one of the biggest stars in the world maybe even bigger than rhianna. And the red dress is super sexy and these is a fab cover shot by testino!!!! Im very interested in "fashion forecast" also jens story about divorce motherhood and looking fabulously fit!!!

Vogue uk

The fabulous sienna miller covers the april vogue in a very cute stella mc cartney the issue is title "fresh start" which is refreshing and lets you know its all about the new season sienna talks about her pregnancy which is a very juicy cover story and the cover tells us about some great tips like"the best new flats" or "45 wonder buys" i know i will be interested to see the vogue editors spring pics so far the cover is a great start the refreshing blue background with that amazing stella dress makes for a great cover!!!

Elle

This elle cover is one or two of my favorites this april its mary kate and ashley olsen on a fold out cover with only major pictures if them first is Ashley wearing a fabulous blue prada coat and she shows off those wonderful eyes beautifully, then theres mary kate in heavenly gold sequence cavalli looking like an unconventional movie star looking simple amazing i will definitely be buying this elle to she more great shots of my two fav girls wearing fabulous designers(note the cover is all milan designers)

Vogue japan

Any one who knows me could tell you im the biggest fan of kate moss and thats why i love seeing her on the cover of vogue! She is wearing the dress she closed the spring 2012 vuitton show in and again makes a "sweet" statement with it. The title of the issue is "sweet & exotic" so how better to put on the cover that kate moss in fabulous vuitton

vogue Australia

This cover is fun upbeat and very vogue Australia. The look is fun miss matched prints and a 80s boy george hat with an emphases on the fabulous nails. it is very "free spirit"

DAZED  & confused

Ok this is clearly the most visually bold and visually intriguing cover featuring hundreds of thousands of pounds of givenchy couture jewelry also featuring one of this newest and interesting models on the scene!! Dazed is always breaking the mold and making something graphic and new and right away  i want to see more of this fabulous shot!!!!!

Harpers Bazaar

Omg i didn't think harpers bazaar could top the anthony vaccellro/gyneth paltrow cover but cate blancett in a fabulously tailored minimalist tuxedo vest jacket with major chain necklace and very elegant hair has done that. The first thing i think when i see this cover is CHIC!!! then SLEEK then ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! So this is one of my fav covers and again will be jumping to get this issue and Opulent vs minimal which way will you play????

MARY-KATE and Ashley Olsen have made a definite statement about the future of their fashion business, by enlisting Prada's US president and ceo to head up their label The Row.

"He quickly became the obvious choice for us and for the brand, having experience in multiple categories which we feel is essential for growth of The Row," Mary-Kate explained.

"His experience and sensibility will add great value to The Row in its next phase of development," Ashley Olsen told WWD.

The twins - who first dipped their toe in fashion waters in 2006 when The Row launched, before unveiling sister label Elizabeth & James and younger affordable label Olsenboye in subsequent years - are generally accepted in the industry as serious businesswomen following a childhood as television stars, and even found themselves in Forbes' Top 30 Under 30 list for 2011.
